Actual rating: 4.5/5 Stars
I really enjoyed this second installment in the Hell Bent/Heaven Sent series. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because of that cliffhanger (such torture).
In the first installment, On Raven’s Wings, Raven, our main character, learns that she is a demon. This installment follows Raven as she goes in search of her mother with Ian’s help. Within these twelve chapters, we learn a bit more about Raven, her mother and the impending war, but Lucas manages to leave readers with enough questions to make them eager for the next novelette, releasing November 20th.
While I did think that Raven and Ian’s relationship moved a bit fast in the first installment, I actually thought it felt more natural in Signs and Portents. It’ll definitely be interesting to see what happens between them next given the impending war. Will Raven lead the war? Or will she chose good over evil?
This series may be short but each installment is filled with plenty of wit, romance and action. I’d recommend this series to anyone looking for a well written, quick read.
I have no clue where Lucas plans on taking this series, but I do know that I will be there to find out.
